ACTS OF VOLUNTEERING

Volunteering is the act of rendering service to a cause, often times for free and without coercion. It is about giving time to a good cause, specifically to help an organization, your community or an individual you are not related to. People who engage in this type of activity are known as volunteers. Volunteers are special people who are bold enough to look beyond their needs to find ways to contribute to their society. They understand self-transcendence is the noblest goal of any individual. Having said this much my next question for you is ‘Do you volunteer’ or should I say why don’t you volunteer?
I can literally hear you say I don’t have anything to give or I don’t have enough time to volunteer. Allow me to state here that no man is without anything to give in volunteering. In fact, it is the little things that have the greatest impact. It is also not about the length of time you volunteer for but the motivation behind the effort to volunteer. Moreover, volunteering benefits the volunteer as much as it benefits the recipient of the volunteering effort. I know this because I have spent a sizeable length of time volunteering for several causes I am passionate about.
What I discovered over time is that anytime I take volunteer jobs, it is a golden opportunity to demonstrate my competence. Most times, opportunities for paid jobs always come my way depending on how well I demonstrate my competence. It is also an opportunity to learn, relearn and unlearn a lot of things and practicalize the things I already know. You see, becoming a volunteer is the best way to gather experience. Interestingly, this experience cannot be learnt. Rather, they have to be taught .This makes the experience of volunteering invaluable as I leave the volunteer job beaming confidence and a sense of achievement.
Also volunteer jobs have given me the opportunity to establish and cultivate meaningful relationships with people who can be immensely impactful in my life’s journey. I can tell you categorically that volunteering has brought me in contact with highly distinguished people whom our paths might never crossed otherwise. These people form the back bone of my network and provide me a huge reservoir of help I can drink from whenever the need arises. As a result, my journey to the land of my dreams is a little faster and smoother thanks to the immeasurable power of volunteering.
In my journey to career advancement, volunteering has contributed to making me stand out and excel beyond my wildest dreams. In that it has helped to increase my value and strengthen my brand. Now the clients I work with accord me respect due to an accomplished individual. More importantly, our financial negotiations are greatly influenced by these benefits of volunteering. Even if you are not an entrepreneur like me, volunteering is a great way to build your CV and position yourself for that job/career you have always wanted. IF YOU HAVE BEEN READING WITH RAPT ATTENTION, BY NOW YOU KNOW THAT VOLUNTEERING IS ONE OF THE BEST THINGS YOU CAN DO FOR YOURSELF.

I choose to volunteer……….. What about you
